Hello dear Reader,

I have written this e-book as much for you, as for myself.

I promise you that I am on the same journey to self-love as you are, …and I am not necessarily further along than you. I have simply been walking this path for a bit longer, so I have more understanding of the obstacles that typically come up and the best ways to navigate around them. That’s exactly why I am in a good position to guide you.

My 23 years of clinical and professional experience as a psychologist and therapist would not be enough to guide you. I can guide you on your journey because I have been through this myself. I now believe self-love is the most essential thing you can, and need to focus on. If you were only to do one thing for yourself with the hope it will have the biggest effect on every area of your life, I would suggest you focus on “self-love”.

The topic of self-love may seem very banal and worn out, but for me, it relates to the most spiritual side of our being. In this e-book, I will explain what I mean by that, and how I arrived at this conclusion. I hope that this way of thinking about self-love will provide you with a new resolve and rationale to work on bringing more of it to your precious life.

In this e-book, I’ll try to demonstrate the importance of self-love in absolutely everything in your life. I will share simple tips and practices you can implement on a daily or weekly basis to bring more love to your life.

As always don’t just read this e-book. Use it as a workbook. Do all the exercises, read recommended texts, watch podcasts and other videos, and use all the resources. I commonly share these practices with my 1:1 clients as a Holistic Psychologist. So, put them into practice and give yourself a chance to benefit from the wisdom and experience contained in them.

It doesn’t of course replace individual sessions with personalised suggestions, but it can help you on your healing and growth journey. Review on The Inner Child Work & Self Soothing Guide

As somebody new to ideas of an ‘inner child’ it felt a little daunting and maybe even beyond me… however, Dr Hortynska’s book felt like the friendly guide at the tourist information centre – greeting and welcoming and easing a path into a new, and potentially overwhelming!, city. A great introduction to working with notions of inner child. Being relatively short it’s an accessible length.

Yet, despite being slight in size, it’s big in terms of ideas and impact. I experienced moments of clarity (feeling that ‘I’, as me, have been understood), and felt connection and empathy as I worked through its pages. Reflective exercises, relatable examples, links to further resources and achievable activities are plentiful. Personally I found the formulation of a ‘Perfect Nurturer’ particularly helpful – I started out feeling ‘I don’t have the imaginative capacity for this’, feeling ‘silly’… but the questions posed soon cast out doubts and my perfect nurturer, to my surprise, began to emerge! A conversational style helps make it approachable, supportive, ‘friendly’ almost. Of course it doesn’t have all the answers, nobody and nothing does, but, by asking the right questions, it opens space for discovery.

I love Kama’s The Inner Child Work & Self-Soothing Guide e-book.
It has been written with outstanding clarity and in a simple way. It is a treasured piece of work, combining a conventional, psychological point of view, with a spiritual approach to the topic and her personal experiences. The e-book clearly explains what an inner child is, how it gets wounded, how we get triggered, and how to soothe ourselves, heal the wounds, and coregulate emotionally.

I have already bought the books Kamila recommends inside the e-book, and I look forward to seeing the outcomes after practising the exercises given.

I had tried Inner Child healing meditations prior to reading Kama’s ebook but had never been able to connect with my Inner Child.

Working through the mindfulness exercises in Kama’s book firstly helped me identify my needs. The ‘Needs’ charts and ‘Sensations’ tables included in the ebook really supported me in this.

The Inner Child exercise was very powerful and for the first time, I felt able to connect with my Inner Child. I have repeated the exercise multiple times and, used alongside the ‘strategies for self-soothing,’ have found it to be an effective way to validate and soothe my feelings.

This is so much more than a list of books to read! Kama has thoughtfully selected books that relate to aspects of physical, spiritual and psychological wellbeing but also provided a detailed synopsis of each book so you can choose the ones that will be most appropriate for you. There’s also a useful guide after each section to help you choose books based on how you’re feeling, what you’re interested in learning and what you’d like to understand.

I’ve read about 10 books that Kama has recommended and have learned something truly valuable from each of them. I’ve enjoyed Kama’s recommendations about everything from the ancient wisdom of Rumi, healing the body, emotional healing, communication in relationships to reading about where science and spirituality meet.

I found Kama’s book recommendations to be really helpful in pointing me in the right direction for what to read next. Many of the books are available as audiobooks too, so perfect for long walks and car journeys.

Highly recommended read, very easy to digest! In a world where there are numerous books on this topic, one can find themself feeling overwhelmed with finding which one to begin with. This e-book is a great way to start your journey to optimising mental health through nutrition. Kamila draws upon evidence based research and suggestions from world leading experts and compiles it in a comprehensive yet concise manner. The tasks she sets also prompt you to analyse your diet and conscientiously make changes to optimise health. I find myself revisiting this on a frequent basis.
